Habitat

Before the main event starts, the NaPoWriMo website suggested writing an ekphrastic poem – a poem inspired by or about a work of art.

Habitat

Tiny, tiny habitat
And within, a snack for a cat
A capsule of concentration
Pink tongue poking out

A cosmos in four corners
Dying to be explored

Food chain. Weather system.
And a carefully-cut romance
What are those two dreaming of?
Eyes on the stars
Hearts on the moon
I imagine them grinning from ear to ear
Just to be holding hands
