This was my warm-up for NaPoWriMo.
Atoms
My atoms like your atoms
I don't know how or why
It can't be cos you're gorgeous
With a twinkle in your eye
It's something more intriguing
A mystery, divine
My atoms like your atoms
And I think yours quite like mine
Perhaps, millions of years ago
Our atoms shared a part
A planetary satellite
Or diplodocus heart
And now that old attraction
Has stirred some magic string
Atomic magnetism
Is a really funny thing
Perhaps before the universe
Began with a big bang
Our atoms were two deities
Holding holy hands
I could have been a predator
And you my favourite prey
You might have quite liked being caught
But really, who could say?
I don't know why our atoms
Are such excited things
Whenever we write letters
Or we hear someone sing
I only know my atoms
Long to be near yours
Perhaps one day they'll reunite
As furry wombat paws
